LED lighting is without doubt the most efficient lighting solution on the market and given technology improvements, and availability, LED lighting is now a very economical solution.

In addition to the substantial energy savings, LED lighting offers many other benefits to customers.   Some of these include:

LED is designed to focus its light and can be directed to a specific location without the use of an external reflector, achieving higher application efficiency than conventional lighting.  LEDs can be dimmed, resulting in a dynamic control of light, color, flexibility and distribution. Well-designed LED illumination systems can achieve fantastic lighting effects, not only for the eye but also for the mood.

Improved color rendering index (CRI). Compared to traditionally lighting (i.e. HID & fluorescent) LED lighting has a much higher CRI (> 90). This allows for the true color of objects to be displayed and reduces distortion. This is particularly beneficial in commercial applications such as car dealerships, supermarkets, clothing stores, etc.

The longer life expectancy assists in reducing maintenance costs, as LED lighting can last up to 10 times longer than previous lighting technologies. This also has added benefits for lighting in hard to reach areas.

LEDs are not made of glass and are hollow inside, they are far less fragile than both fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. This makes them much more durable, less likely to be inoperable due to being dropped, and can withstand harsh conditions. They are resistant to shock, vibrations and external impacts, they make great outdoor lighting systems for exposure to weather, wind, rain or even external vandalism, traffic related public exposure and construction or manufacturing sites. For freezer rooms and iceboxes, they are the perfect bulbs.

Compared to fluorescent, and particularly HID, lighting LED emits very little heat generating additional savings from reduced HVAC costs.

LED illumination produces little infrared light and close to no UV emissions.

Current LED chip technology allows the latest LED fixtures to have a life expectancy of over 100,000 hours. LED lamps & bulbs have a typical useful life of over 50,000 hour.

LED lights contain no toxic materials and are 100% recyclable; they’ll help you reduce your carbon footprint. One LED light bulb can save material and production of 25 incandescent light bulbs.

Given LED lightings ability to dim and turn on/off instantly, incorporating controls is now a very attractive solution. In previous years lighting controls were expensive and only cost-effective for a small number of applications. However significant advances in technology have allowed controls to become a very viable option for customers. Given AEECI’s experience, controls have allowed customers to generate additional savings of over 30% on their lighting costs by taking advantage of daylight harvesting, occupancy sensors and timers. Almost all LED fixtures can now be manufactured with built-in controls that allows fixtures to be controlled independently or as part of a building management system.
